Kathy Belletire, our first featured artist, has been a Friends member since she completed Master Naturalist training in 2018. She has volunteered in the pollinator gardens; Refuge children’s programs such as the Butterfly Roundup and Earthday; is butterfly monitor through the Illinois Butterfly Monitoring Network; and has provided an interpretive program in nature painting. She plans to become a Crab Orchard Nature Educator (CONE program) when normal activities are resumed at the Refuge. Kathy states her work is inspired by the shapes, colors, and textures in nature especially birds, plants and insects.
