Art Exhibit- artist JoAnne Swafford
JoAnne has been a volunteer at Crab Orchard NWR for over 10 years. She is so willing to take an active part in any project, that its hard to remember and list the many ways she has volunteered! She and her husband Ron have been a weekly volunteer patrol team for 10 years. She has also participated in public use surveys, butterfly roundups, pollinator garden work, blue bird house monitoring, the Kids Fishing Derby, Earth Day Interpretive programs, Refuge Cleanup, Hunting and Fishing Day, and Youth programs too numerous to mention. JoAnne is a gifted artist who has donated her skill to both the Refuge and her church programs. Pictured are some of the large animal display placards she both designed and painted for Refuge programs, many with removable face sections that enable visitors to have their photos taken in them. Also pictured is a large mural background she painted, on which African animal stickers were superimposed. JoAnne is a Friends Board member and serves as Chair of both the membership and hospitality committees. She was awarded Refuge Volunteer of the year in 2014.
